In what was a big blow to the tournament itself, exciting fast bowler Brett Lee has been ruled out of the Commonwealth Bank Tri-Series after fracturing his right foot during the Second Twenty20 International against India at Melbourne day before yesterday.
Brett Lee bowling a full length delivery got a smashing straight drive from India Captain MS Dhoni which crashed straight back onto his foot! That impact has now left Brett Lee with a broken foot which speaks a lot about the power MS Dhoni can generate in his shots! Although Lee finished his over that evening, his right toe worsened after the match which should keep him out of action for 4-6 weeks. Brett Lee is doubtful for the upcoming West Indies tour as well.
Australia haven’t named any replacement for Brett Lee but it is likely that the Selectors could name either Peter Siddle or Ben Hilfenhaus with both the bowlers doing a fabulous job in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India. The first of the Commonwealth Bank Series starts in a couple of hours with Australia taking on India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
